Students are encouraged to create a degree plan to ensure all degree requirements are met by their degree expected term. Sample four- and two-year plans are available for download below.

The Registrar’s Office assigns enrollment appointments within pass time periods based on units completed + in-progress units and priority status. Please click here for details.

You can view your appointment times on MyUCLA > Classes > Enrollment Appointments.

Our department is unable to assign new appointment times.

  • Students are strongly encouraged to prioritize major courses during first pass.
  • Enrollment restrictions for PHYSCI courses:
    • PHYSCI 107, 111A, and 111B are restricted to Physiological Science majors at all times.
    • Upper division PHYSCI courses (PHYSCI 107, 111A, 111B excluded) are restricted to Physiological Science majors during first and second pass unless otherwise noted. Any student may enroll after the last second pass enrollment appointment, space permitting.
  • Please check a course’s Class Notes for details on enrollment restrictions.
  • If a course that you want to take is full, it’s recommended that you monitor enrollment closely, especially at the start of the quarter. Seats often become available during the first two weeks of the quarter as students start making changes to their schedules.
  • Some courses have prerequisites that must be taken before enrolling in that course. MyUCLA will not prevent you from enrolling in a course if you haven’t completed a suggested prerequisite. However, you will be prevented from enrolling if you haven’t completed an enforced prerequisite.
  • Please direct questions regarding PHYSCI courses to navila@ibp.ucla.edu. For questions about another department’s course, please contact the respective department. Departmental contact information is available here.

Petitions to exceed 19 units in a regular quarter (fall, winter, spring) or exceed 18 units in the summer are processed by the College of Letters and Science. Our department is unable to grant more units.

Eligibility:

  • Be in good academic standing.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA in at least 15 units during the last regular quarter completed.

If all your grades are posted on DARS for the previous regular quarter and you meet the eligibility requirements above, you will be automatically approved for 22 units in the enrollment system once the regular quarter has begun.

Please refer to the College’s website here for additional information on excess unit petitions, including instructions for petitioning when you don’t meet the criteria above.
