Biography

William Whiting earned a B.S. in Mathematical Sciences from Stanford University (1975) and M.S. (1979) and Ph.D. (1983) degrees in Kinesiology from UCLA. Whiting has served as an adjunct professor in the Department of IBP since 1994, and is a tenured Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). At CSUN, Whiting served as Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs from 2013-16, and has been honored by CSUN with its Distinguished Teaching and Preeminent Scholarly Publication awards. Professionally, Whiting served as President, American College of Sports Medicine – Southwest Chapter, 1999-2002, and is an elected Fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine (FACSM).


Research Interests

Biomechanics of human movement, with emphasis on performance evaluation and enhancement, and the mechanics of musculoskeletal injury.
